Nature
The village of Laza at the foot of Shahdag is famous for its waterfalls, plunging from the cliffs straight into the gorge. The best known is the double waterfall Gosha Shalala, sought for its mountain freshness and views.
The road to Laza and the waterfalls themselves are among the favourite destinations for trips around northern Azerbaijan.
Nature
The north of the district is covered with forests, and along the border stretches the valley of the Samur river with its famous floodplain woods. Mountain rivers and streams feed these slopes all year round.
These places are part of the Shahdag National Park, one of the largest in the country, where the nature of the Greater Caucasus is preserved.
